Funded by a coalition of Government, philanthropists and supporters who care deeply about reforming Australia’s mental health system, we are an independent team of mental health advocates, experts, and ordinary Australians, registered as an Australian charity with DGR status, so all donations are tax deductible.

Our Why

Our underfunded, inadequate mental health system in Australia currently accepts that, before we go to sleep tonight, 1 in 5 of us will be battling with a treatable mental health disorder, and 8 of us won’t make it to tomorrow.

These are not just numbers, these are people. These people are our friends. These people are our family. These people are us.

We believe in a tomorrow where we wake up to a system that doesn’t accept this. We believe that when people need help, they get it.

Our Vision

What does the best mental health system in the world look like? What can we change in our system to have the best mental health system in the world within the next decade?

The mental wellbeing of Australians is our country’s greatest resource. Over the past 20 years, we’ve made enormous investments towards achieving this vision. Our big wins: Stigma reduction (Beyond Blue etc.), Mental Healthcare Treatment plans, Youth Mental Health (Headspace), state investment in tertiary care (Orygen). So, what’s next?

In 2020 the Victorian Government commenced a Royal Commission into Mental Health. The independent Royal Commission synthesised over 12,000 submissions, from all stakeholders in the system and pulled together 65 recommendations. These recommendations reflect what Australians who most need help, want the system to look like.

We are fighting to ensure those recommendations get implemented - across the country - taking us from a patchy $10b 3G, system to a $20B “5G” of mental healthcare system. A system in which every single person has access to the care they need, when they need it.
